My mother has been to most of my exhibitions, but is still puzzled as to why I am drawn to sculpting when I already lead such a busy life. During her last visit, I decided to have her witness one of the processes, and also to see Rose at work on her side of the studio. She loved it!
I had already made the rubber mould for Eve; two coats over the clay, so it was time for the mother mould in plaster. A messy process where you end up with a lot of plaster powder and globs on your clothes and hair! Earlier, I had considered a shortcut with only a waste mould in plaster, but Eve has leaves and other details that required the full enchilada.
Next, I finish the plaster and start the process of removing the clay and casting the sculpture.
